Design a CD-Rom cover with a picture of your choice!

This tutorial is based on the iCD action that I’ve created back in 2001.

Lets start by creating a new transparent 750×750 image

 Paste the image of your choice

Using the Elliptical Marquee tool create a selection same as the image below
**make sure that you hold Shift while making the selection to maintain 1:1 aspect ratio which will assure a perfect circle.

Save the current selection for future use within this tutorial, and name the selection L Circle

Inverse the selection by clicking Select>Inverse or by pressing Shift+Ctrl+I and save the selection and name it L circle inverse

Press Delete or Edit>Clear to clear the area around the CD-Rom

Load the selection L Circle by choosing Select>Load Selection and select the channel L Circle

Transform the selection to create the smaller circle in the center Select>Transform Selection, keep the reference point as the center point and choose 32% width percentage for the horizontal scale and 32% height percentage for the vertical scale

Right click on the selection and choose Layer via Cut and set the opacity for the newly created layer to 25%

Opacity = 25%

Make a selection of Layer 2 by Holding Ctrl and Clicking on Layer 2 thumnail on the Layers tab. Then save that selection as disc-center

Load the selection L Circle by choosing Select>Load Selection and choosing L Circle from the shown channels
Then Transform the selection to create the smaller circle in the center Select>Transform Selection, keep the reference point as the center point and choose 33% width percentage for the horizontal scale and 33% height percentage for the vertical scale

Click on Layer 1 on the Layers tab and then right click over the selection on the screen and choose Layer via Copy

Now a new layer named Layer 3 will be created, right click on Layer 3 and choose Blending Options

On the Blending Options choose Bevel and Emboss and set the settings as you see on the screen shot below

Load the selection L Circle by choosing Select>Load Selection and choosing L Circle from the shown channels
Create a new Layer ** Expected layer name is Layer 4

Choose Edit>Stroke and choose stroke Width=1px, color=black and Opacity=45%

Click on Layer 2 on the Layers tab

Load the selection L Circle by choosing Select>Load Selection and choosing L Circle from the shown channels

Then Transform the selection to create the smaller circle in the center Select>Transform Selection, keep the reference point as the center point and choose 17% width percentage for the horizontal scale and 17% height percentage for the vertical scale

Press Delete or Edit>Clear to clear the area in the middle of the CD-Rom

Merge visible layers by selecting Layer>Merge Visible, all the CD-Rom will be in one completely transparent layer

Final result should be something like this ;o)
